Can Skincare Alone Improve Your Skin? When Professional Skin Treatments Can Help
The answer is… skincare alone will only take you so far.
We’re HUGE believers in good skincare at Bellissima. It’s the foundation of healthy skin and what you do every day matters much more than having the odd professional treatment.
But skincare has its limitations.
If you’re trying to improve a particular concern — such as acne scarring, pigmentation, rosacea, visible thread veins, uneven texture or loss of firmness – more often than not, professional skin treatments are needed to create the level of change you’re looking for.
And if your goal is simply to have the best skin possible, combining good skincare with the right professional treatments can supercharge your results.
Why can’t skincare do everything?
The right skincare can support healthy skin function, improve hydration, protect the skin, encourage cell turnover and help manage a huge range of concerns.
But there are some changes that skincare simply can’t create to the same degree as professional treatments.
Take collagen, for example.
Good skincare can help support collagen production and protect the collagen you already have, but it can’t stimulate and remodel the skin in the same way as treatments such as microneedling, fractional laser or radio frequency microneedling do.
These treatments stimulate a physical response within the skin, which is why they can take your results to a whole other level.
What can professional skin treatments do that skincare can’t?
Different professional skin treatments allow us to target different concerns within the skin.
IPL can target pigmentation, rosacea and visible thread veins that skincare alone may struggle to significantly improve.
Fractional laser can work on uneven texture and acne scarring by creating a controlled response within the skin and stimulating renewal.
Microneedling and radio frequency microneedling can be used to stimulate collagen and improve concerns such as scarring, texture and loss of firmness.
Chemical peels can create a level of controlled exfoliation that wouldn’t be safe or appropriate to achieve with your everyday products at home.
That doesn’t mean everybody needs all of these treatments.
Far from it.
The best results come from combining skincare and professional treatments
Professional treatments aren’t there to replace your skincare.
Think of them as working together.
Your home routine looks after your skin every single day — supporting its health, protecting it and helping to maintain your results.
Professional skin treatments allow us to go further by targeting specific concerns and creating changes within the skin that skincare alone may not be able to achieve.
And that doesn’t mean having treatment after treatment or doing everything on the menu.
It’s about understanding what your skin actually needs and choosing the treatments that are going to make a difference.
Not sure which professional skin treatment is right for you?
This is exactly why we offer Skin Consultations at Bellissima.
Rather than choosing a treatment because you’ve seen it on Instagram or because somebody else has had great results from it, we can assess your skin properly, talk about what you’d like to improve and recommend the treatments and skincare that make sense for your skin.
If you’re unsure which treatment would make a difference to your skin, click here to book a Skin Consultation and we’ll assess your skin, discuss what you’d like to improve and create a tailored plan.
